This week the Sales and Marketing group of Digital Specialty Chemicals had a meeting in Cancun, Mexico. We had some spare time to do some interesting sightseeing of Mayan ruins. The technology developed by these people certainly is impressive. Their ball game rules though are very brutal: the captain of the winning team gets beheaded, I wonder who wants to win under these circumstances.

New role for Bill Stibbs
As of 1st December 2011, I will be taking on responsibility for leading business strategy within DSC in addition to continuing to lead our marketing function. In recognition of this revised role my title will become Vice President, Marketing and Business Strategy. As DSC continues to grow, medium-term planning becomes more critical to our success, hence the increased importance placed on both marketing and business strategy. I look forward to working with our executive team on refining and strengthening our business strategy and continuing to interact with our many valued business partners around the world.
Pot Luck Lunch Winner
The winning dish, by a landslide margin that politicians dream of, at our recent pot luck lunch was baked trout. This mouth-watering delight was created by our Scheduler, Dilleny.
CPhI
We are in the throes of last minute preparations for the CPhI Worldwide tradeshow in Frankfurt next week – in fact the first member of our team has already arrived in Germany. This is our biggest “event” of the year and we will be promoting our increased capacity and capabilities following the recent expansion of our manufacturing facility. Please comment on this post to arrange a meeting or drop by our stand at the show: F0H11 in the Fine Chemicals Zone.
Reactor Commissioned
Today our new 1,200L reactor was commissioned by Ravi Gukathasan, CEO. This glass-lined steel reactor with glass overheads and a heater / chiller supporting operating temperatures of -40 to +200oC under inert atmosphere increases our manufacturing volume by 30%.
The planning for a second 1,200L reactor including auxiliary equipment is well under way. We have also expanded our fractional distillation capacity with a 120L stainless steel unit. These expansions to our facility are required in order to support our traditional customers with the volumes required as their projects grow.
